Free Sms Limits To 100 For All !!!!

Beginning September 27, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has decided to restrict SMS usage to 100 messages every day. The TRAI’s Per Day per Sim (PDPS) rule has asked telecom service providers to remove SMS service packs that allow customers to send more than 100 SMSes every day. People at TRAI say the decision was important to stop the deluge of unsolicited commercial communications-promotional SMSes and calls. But seems this news has disappointed youth who start and end their day with an SMS, at times reaching the wonder figure of even 250 messages daily.

TRAI that was trying hard to curb the pesky calls and promotional messages since last few years but continuously being failed despite implementing the 'Do Not Disturb (DND) Service' has now formulate a way of setting the cap on short messaging services.

The cap on sms service will definitely deter the telemarketing companies to send the unwanted bulk sms that cause irritation and frustration to the common man,' said an official of telecom regulator on the condition of anonymity. But, this decision will not hurt the communication between the close relatives, he added. The transaction messages, the coding message, and other informative messages from banks, insurance companies and other service sectors would not come under this cap, TRAI official informed.

TRAI has also directed to the telecom companies to not to sent any message or call beyond 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. whether the subscribers are registered with DND or not. Those who are registered with DND under 'fully blocked' category will get no promotional messages. However, DND subscribers are allowed to receive SMS from opted categories according to their choice like banks, finance, real estates, educations, health, consumer goods, automobiles, communication and entertainment, tourism and leisure etc.

On the contrary, this move of TRAI will also affect the pocket of general users who use more message service than call especially teens. The reason behind it you can get unlimited message per day in the recharge of up to maximum Rs.100 per month. This move will definitely hamper the pocket of users especially at the time of festivals when most the consumers use SMS service to wish their friends and relatives. Now, the consumers will have to select some 'priority' numbers to whom they want to send messages. You will need to call the remaining. However, the smart phone users like blackberry and high end user who use internet service will remain unaffected from it as they can use the advantage service of their mobiles.
